My name is Cheryl and I am a wine enthusiast who is passionate about wine!! An (almost) Arizona native, my dream is to live in Northern California and frolic among the vines. In 2001 my husband and I moved from Tucson to the Phoenix area where our lives became very LARGE. It was here that we bought our first house together, saw all of our children marry, became grandparents and adopted our first greyhound. It was during this time I came to love wine. Many trips to Napa/Sonoma, countless wine events, and many hours of “Field Research” have confirmed the one thing I know to be true. I. Love. Wine. I love everything about it from the soil, to the dormant vine, to bud break, through harvest, and finally, toasting it in the glass.
Always there for sloppy kisses and races around the back yard is my silly greyhound, Crystal. She supports and encourages me along the way (dogs make great listeners!) and helps me believe that anything is possible.
Until recently I worked in grocery retail where I learned the true meaning of hard work! Standing on your feel all day and working with the public builds character. Hats off to all those in the retail industry (especially you, honey!). I was able to share my love of wine with customers through personal recommendations from the cellar and wines by the glass from the wine bar. What a wonderful experience that was for me – one I will always appreciate!
I learn best by absorbing the history of a wine or region along with what I earlier referred to as “Field Research” so my husband and I have vowed to give selflessly to the cause of “Field Research” ensuring we get it right. My goal here is to share with you what I have learned along the way. This includes visits to various wineries, restaurants and our experiences with the local culture of where we happen to be.
My husband Ron has been the catalyst for my love affair with wine. He would bring home wines neither of us had tried and together we would disect them and discover what we liked and didn’t like. This, along with trips to Northern California wine country, has led me to refine my palette and discover why I love a particular wine or varietal. That’s the wonderful thing about wine; it’s social, it’s fun and your palette is unique to you. If you like it that’s all that matters!
I couldn’t have started this blog without my sister Melissa’s constant encouragement and loyal support. She has helped me take my blog from a dream to something tangible that I am now ready to share with you. I truly appreciate her patience with me!
One more thing. I find pigs adorable! When I happen upon a pig, real or otherwise, I have to take a picture. So, you may see one from time to time.
I look forward to sharing my journey with you tasting new (and old) wines, exploring music, enjoying yummy foods, traveling to new places and making new friends along the way. Won’t you please join me.
Cheers to you!
Cheryl
